About the role
You will build and run our hosting platform: web servers, control panels, DNS, email and SSL for client websites and applications. You will keep sites fast, secure, backed up and online.
What you will do
- Build and run web hosting servers (Nginx, Apache, LiteSpeed)
- Manage hosting control panels, DNS zones and SSL certificates
- Migrate client websites and email with no data loss
- Harden servers and web applications, and patch on schedule
- Monitor uptime and performance, and respond to incidents
- Run backups and restores for client sites
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 4+ years running a production web hosting platform
- Expert Linux and web server administration (Nginx or Apache, PHP-FPM)
- cPanel/WHM, Plesk or DirectAdmin administration
- DNS (BIND or PowerDNS), SSL/TLS and email delivery (Postfix, SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
- Website migrations you have completed
- English at CEFR C1 or above (IELTS 7.0 or equivalent)
Expert knowledge
- Web performance: caching (Redis, Varnish), HTTP/2 and HTTP/3, and CDN configuration
- Web application firewall rules (ModSecurity, OWASP Core Rule Set) and malware clean-up
- Email deliverability: reputation, blocklists and authentication
- Multi-tenant isolation: per-site users, resource limits and CloudLinux
Preferred qualifications
- LPIC-2 or RHCE
- WordPress and Magento performance tuning
- ACME automation for certificates
- Hosting company experience
